June 8th Ravenloft: Horrors Within One Shot - Grave Awakenings

Starting June 8th, we are holding weekly Ravenloft: Horrors Within One shots that will be a continuous story from week to week. Players can jump in and join at anytime, even if they miss a week. This series of One Shots are all tied to the new Ravenloft: Horrors Within book that is also coming out in June as well. Our first One Shot will be Grave Awakenings, and information about it and what players need to do before hand are listed below.

Adventure Background:

Lord Soth is the Dark Lord of the Dread Domain of
Sithicus. He broods in his castle, tormented by his
past and haunted by spirits who remind him of his
failures. Recently, Soth’s rage has been awakened,

and Sithicus deteriorated as a result. While his rage
has been quelled, the aftereffects on the domain leave
dangerous forces about that could still put Sithicus’s
future in jeopardy.

The witch Inza Kulchevich recognizes Sithicus’s
potential fate. Other adventurers have taken the
journey to stand up against Soth’s ire; but they
recently left. Now, she needs different adventurers to
keep Sithicus from suffering from the aftershock’s of
Soth’s actions.

What Inza doesn’t know is that the changes to Soth
and Sithicus are part of a larger problem. Powerful
forces plan to use Soth’s rage and its consequences
to infect other Dread Domains with instability,
threatening anyone dwelling therein.

Player Information:

Characters for This Season
For the Celebration Event, players should create a
level 3 character using the Player’s Handbook and
Ravenloft: The Horrors Within. The following additional
guidelines apply to these characters:
• Ability scores are generated using either the
Standard Array or Point Cost options detailed in
chapter 2 of the Player’s Handbook.
• Each time a character gains a level after level 1, their
Hit Point maximum increases according to the Fixed
Hit Points by Class table in chapter 2 of the Player’s
Handbook.
• Characters begin with their normal starting
equipment plus one Common magic item of their
choice from chapter 7 of the Dungeon Master’s
Guide. Alternatively, they can select a Potion of
Healing from the Player’s Handbook.
After completing Grave Awakenings, the characters
advance to level 4. After completing the Week 2
encounter Death in Darkon the characters advance to
level 5. Characters are granted a Long Rest between
each week.
